Copperwheat Claims All-Around Title
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh (194.950) gymnastics team (9-10, 2-3 EAGL) fell to North Carolina (195.700) on Sunday afternoon at the Fitzgerald Field House.
VAULT
The Panthers started the afternoon off strong on vault. Sidney Washington, Ciara Ward and Kennedy Duke posted a 9.800 for their performances. Copperwheat was not far behind – securing a 9.775 and starting her route for the all-around. The team finished the rotation with their second highest team score of the afternoon – 48.850.
BARS
Copperwheat claimed the second-place title on bars with her routine – scoring a 9.900. Washington and Pawlak posted strong routines - securing a 9.825 and 9.800, respectively. Pitt finishes the second roation with a 48.825 team score.
BEAM
Continuing her momentum, Copperwheat secured the first-place title overall on beam with her score of 9.850. Freshman Reyna Garvey claimed the third-place title with her routine – posting a 9.750.
FLOOR
The Panthers finished with their strongest routine of the afternoon – scoring a 48.975 overall. Senior Nay'Yarrah Winder posted the highest routine for Pitt – earning a 9.850. Erin Hutchison and Washington were not far behind her – each scoring a 9.800. Copperwheat completed the all-around on floor with her score of 9.725. Her performance this afternoon earned her the all-around first place title with her score of 39.250.

The Panthers head to Durhan, NH for a quad meet against Illinois State, Southern Connecticut State, and New Hampshire on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m.
