
Harris Scores Her 1,000th Career Point In Road Loss At Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, MA – The Pitt women's basketball team (7-14, 0-10 ACC) fell on the road Sunday afternoon to the Boston College Eagles by the score of 74-60 despite being tied at the half. Pitt had a trio of players tie for the team lead with 13 points in the loss.
Senior Dayshanette Harris notched her 1,000th career point in the second half with a jumper in the lane to become the Panthers' 20th 1000-point scorer in program history. She finished the game with 13 points, five rebounds and three steals in the loss. Maliyah Johnson finished her afternoon with 13 points and six rebounds while hitting three triples while Avery Strickland had 13 points and three boards.

FIRST QUARTER
- The Eagles took the early 4-2 lead before Maliyah Johnson got going with back-to-back corner triples to give Pitt the 8-4 lead.
- Boston College used a 5-0 run to regain the lead but Dayshanette Harris found a streaking Amber Brown for a fast break layup to send Pitt to the media timeout leading 10-9.
- Avery Strickland closed out the scoring in the first for Pitt with the final three points before the Eagles netted the final four points of the quarter to take the 15-13 lead into the second.
- The Eagles earned the early 18-15 lead after a layup but Brown answered with the next five points to give the Panthers the lead back early in the quarter.
- The two teams went back-and-forth over the next four minutes as Brown finished off a layup to make it 22-22 late in the quarter.
- Harris took over the scoring for Pitt down the stretch as she netted the final four points of the half to make it 26-26 through 20 minutes.
- Boston College came out of the locker room strong as they scored the first eight points of the third quarter to force Pitt into a timeout as they led 34-26.
- Out of the timeout, Channise Lewis drilled a jumper and Harris knocked down her first triple of the game to cut the Pitt deficit to 34-31, just over three minutes into the third.
- The Eagles responded with the next 11 points to push the lead out to 45-31 with three minutes to go.
- Johnson finished the scoring in the quarter for Pitt with the final seven points as the Panthers went to the fourth trailing by nine, 47-38.
- The Eagles scored four straight points to open the fourth quarter before Harris knocked down a jumper in the lane for her 1,000th career point as a Panther.
- The Eagles came right back and put the game out of reach as they went on a 10-2 run to push their lead back to 19, 61-42, midway through the final frame.
- Avery Strickland took over the scoring load down the stretch of the game for Pitt as she scored 10 points across the final three minutes but it wasn't enough as the Panthers fell on the road to Boston College 67-54.
- Pitt finished the game shooting 37.7% from the floor while the Eagles shot 52.6% in the win.
- The Eagles won the paint battle 30-22 while the Panthers forced 22 BC turnovers and turned those chances into 23 points in the loss.
- Pitt stays on the road Thursday as they head to Durham to take on #16 Duke. Thursday's game will air live on ACC Network at 6:00 pm.
