Fourth Quarter Struggles Costly In Panthers Home Loss To #15 North Carolina

PITTSBURGH – Despite leading for over 20 minutes, the Pitt women's basketball team (7-13, 0-9 ACC) fell at home Thursday night to #15 North Carolina by the score of 72-57.
Senior Dayshanette Harris had her best game in conference play as she netted a team-high 16 points and two rebounds as she went 7-for-12 from the floor in 26 minutes of work. Liatu King finished her night with 12 points, nine rebounds and two blocks while Amber Brown had 11 points, four assists and three rebounds in 31 minutes of work.

FIRST QUARTER
- The Panthers offense got going early on as Liatu King opened the scoring with a jumper in the paint and Avery Strickland knocked down a pair of triples as Pitt trailed the Tar Heels 13-12 at the media timeout.
- King and Strickland each had six of the first 12 for the Panthers as they trailed by one at the media timeout.
- Out of the media, Dayshanette Harris netted a triple and another deep jumper to tie the game, 17-17.
- Senior Emy Hayford finished the scoring in the quarter with a driving layup through traffic to give Pitt the 21-19 lead through 10 minutes.
