Pawlak, Copperwheat Awarded Weekly EAGL Honors

PITTSBURGH — The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team has claimed two weekly awards announced by the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Wednesday morning.
Pitt freshman Natalia Pawlak has been named EAGL Rookie of the Week and sophomore Hallie Copperwheat claimed EAGL Gymnast of the Week.
Freshman Pawlak currently claims the top bars score (9.925) of the season for the Panthers after her performance at NC State Saturday night. The Melissa, TX native earned the team's highest bars score of the evening, setting a new career-high and claiming the first-place title overall. Her contribution to the rotation helped Pitt to a 49.00 team score on that event.
In Saturday's tri-meet against NC State, and George Washington, Copperwheat placed first overall in the all-around with her score of 39.350. The Leighton Buzzard, England native placed second overall on bars, scoring a 9.900 and tied for third overall on beam with a 9.825. The sophomore had no score below a 9.825 in any event on Saturday evening.

Pitt will continue their road journey to Muncie, IN for a quad-meet against Ball State, Fisk and Southeast Missouri State on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 1:00 p.m.
