WEST VALLEY CITY, UT — The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (3-3, 0-0 EAGL) fell to No. 3 Cal, No. 16 Iowa, and No. 26 Oregon State at the Wasatch Classic quad meet Saturday night at the Maverik Center.
Sophomore Hallie Copperwheat completed the evening with strong routines on floor (9.875) and bars (9.800) en route to an all-around score of 39.150.
The Panthers finished the evening's event with a 193.650.
FLOOR
Senior Nay'yarrah Winder started the rotation off strong with a 9.800 – matching her career-high score. Copperwheat started her pursuit of the all-around with a 9.875. The Panthers completed the first rotation with a 48.550.
VAULT
Freshman Kennedy Duke earned the highest vault score of the evening for the Panthers – with a career-high, 9.825. Sophomore Sidney Washington finished second for the Panthers, earning a 9.800.
BARS
The Panthers finished the third rotation with three solid routines. Sophomore Jordyn Ewing and freshman Natalia Pawlak pushed through, and both finished with a score of 9.825. Copperwheat anchored the event for Pitt, earning a 9.800. The Panthers completed the third rotation with a 48.800 – their highest rotation score of the night.
BEAM
The team finished the evening's event on beam. Freshman Reyna Garvey took the team's highest score of the rotation, earning a 9.800. Copperwheat completed the all-around and finished with a 9.700 on beam.
