ACC Release
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Pitt women's soccer senior forward Amanda West has been named the first ACC Offensive Player of the Week of the 2022 season, the league announced Tuesday. West has now earned the award once in all four seasons of her collegiate career. The most recent honor marks the second year in a row she was named the ACC's first Offensive Player of the Week to open up a season.
West helped guide the Panthers (2-0-0) to the program's sixth-straight 2-0-0 start to a season as Pitt won both of its games in Missoula, Mont., last weekend to claim the Rumble in the Rockies crown. She produced second-half game-winning goals in a pair of shutout wins, breaking scoreless ties in each by finding the back of the net in the 57th minute of a 1-0 victory over Gonzaga in the season opener last Thursday and then scoring in the 56th minute of a 2-0 triumph over host Montana on Sunday.
West extended her program records for career points (89), goals (35) and game-winning goals (15). She is the ACC's active leader in career goals.
Pitt plays in front of the hometown crowd for the first time in the 2022 regular season when it welcomes UMass to Ambrose Urbanic Field on Thursday. First touch is scheduled for 5 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra. The contest is the first half of a Pitt soccer doubleheader at Ambrose Urbanic Field as the men's team opens its season against Georgetown at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online in advance for $5 per game or purchased on gameday for $8 at the Petersen Sports Complex Ticket Office.
