PITTSBURGH – The Pitt softball team finishes the regular season on the road at No. 11/13 Duke starting Thursday afternoon.

- Pitt concludes the season with three games at No. 11/13 Duke starting with a doubleheader Thursday at 4 PM.
- Duke leads the all-time series 5-3 with the Blue Devils prevailing in both games played last season in mid-February.
- The Panthers have totaled 18 extra base hits, including 11 home runs, in their last eight games. The team as a whole is batting .291 in that stretch.

- Senior Yvonne Whaley enters the contest on an eight-game hitting streak and has recorded a hit in 13 of her last 14 games. She leads the team with a .344 batting average with 42 hits, 4 2Bs, 2 HRs, 19 runs and a .812 OPS.
- Junior Bailey Drapola has reached base safely in eight of her last 10 games and has 11 hits in her last 25 at bats for a .440 batting average in that stretch. She went 4-for-7 with a double and two RBI at Virginia.
- Redshirt freshman Dani Drogemuller has recorded 145 strikeouts this season and is four shy of fifth most all time in a single-season at Pitt. She has 13 games with seven or more strikeouts including four 10+ K games this year.
- Four Panthers are hitting above .300 in conference play with Drapola (.364) and Whaley (.362) leading the way. The two have combined for 33 hits, 14 RBI and 11 walks in ACC play.
SCOUTING REPORT
- The Blue Devils enter with an overall record of 37-7 and 16-3 in conference action. They currently sit second in the ACC standings, one game behind Virginia Tech for the top seed in the ACC Tournament.
- Duke's .335 batting average ranks sixth in the nation and first in the ACC. It is fourth in scoring (7.44), fifth in slugging percentage (.624) and sixth in on base percentage (.426).
- Jameson Kavel (#2) leads the squad with a 1.305 OPS, hitting .389 with a .855 SLG% and .450 OB%. She has 51 hits, 47 runs, 14 doubles, 15 homers, 42 RBI and 15 walks.
- Peyton St. George (#10) leads the Blue Devils in the circle with a 19-3 record and a 1.69 ERA, striking out 156 batters in 120.1 innings pitched. She has kept opposing batting averages to a .181 mark and has 11 complete games and three saves on the season.
- These two teams last met Feb. 19-20, 2021 during ACC Pod play. Pitt played Duke and Virginia in the Raleigh/Durham area in early season conference action due to the schedule restructuring from COVID-19.
WHALEY LEADING THINGS OFF
- Senior transfer Yvonne Whaley has found much success in the leadoff spot for the Panthers this season, leading the team in batting average (.344) and hits (42) while totaling 19 runs, 7 stolen bases and a 52 total bases.
- The Houston, Texas, native is batting .362 with 21 hits and 29 total bases in conference play.
- In her last 10 games, Whaley is batting .467 with 14 hits, 9 runs, 2 doubles, 2 homers and 4 RBI.
