Trailing by four runs entering the sixth inning, Pitt kicked it into high gear at the plate with an eight-run frame. Sky Duff led off with a walk, and Ron Washington, Jr. smashed his 14th homer of the season into left center. Bryce Hulett followed with a blast into the second deck of seats in right field, his ninth of the season. With one out, CJ Funk singled to left center, and Brock Franks was hit by a pitch. Dom Popa tied the game up with an RBI-single up the middle where both baserunners advanced on a fielding error from the centerfielder. Jeffrey Wehler put the Panthers ahead for good with a single through the left side that knocked in both Popa and Franks. Tatem Levins singled to left center, and Duff hit an RBI-single through the left side where an error on the catcher on a throw at home allowed Levins and Duff to advance a base. Washington, Jr. picked up his second RBI-hit of the frame with another single through the left side.
The Panthers picked up two insurance runs in the last trip to the plate. Jack Anderson, Franks and Popa all drew walks to load the bases. Wehler racked up his third RBI-hit with another single through the left side with one out. Franks hustled home on a wild pitch for the final run.
The Panthers grabbed a lead in the game's opening frame. With one out, Levins singled to centerfield, and Duff doubled to left center. Washington, Jr. hit a deep sac fly to right field for both Levins and Duff to tag up. Hulett knocked in Duff with a single to centerfield.
The Yellow Jackets went up with three runs in the third inning as an error on an RBI-fielder's choice resulted in two unearned runs afterwards.
Georgia Tech added a leadoff homer in the fourth inning and an RBI-single and RBI-double in the fifth.
