Pitt Travels to Robert Morris for Tuesday Afternoon Contest

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt softball heads 20 minutes northwest to Moon Township, Pa., to face Robert Morris in a non-conference contest Tuesday at 3 p.m.

- The Panthers travel just outside the Oakland area to Moon Township, Pa., to take on Robert Morris for a midweek contest at 3 PM.
- The two teams previously met Wed., Mar. 30 at Vartabedian Field with Pitt winning 7-2.
- The road contest is the fourth of seven-straight away from Vartabedian Field. Pitt concludes the season May 5-7 at Duke.
AROUND THE DIAMOND
- Senior Yvonne Whaley enters the contest on an eight game hitting streak and has recorded a hit in 13 of her last 14 games. She leads the team with a .344 batting average with 42 hits, 4 2Bs, 2 HRs, 19 runs and a .812 OPS.
- Junior Bailey Drapola has reached base safely in eight of her last 10 games and has 11 hits in her last 25 at bats for a .440 batting average in that stretch. She went 4-for-7 with a double and two RBI at Virginia.
- Redshirt freshman Dani Drogemuller has recorded 145 strikeouts this season and is four shy of fifth most all time in a single-season at Pitt. She has 13 games with seven or more strikeouts including four 10+ K games this year.
- Drapola, senior Sarah Seamans and freshman Amanda "Tuta" Ramirez all had two RBI each in the last meeting vs. the Colonials. Drogemuller went 6.0 innings with 10 K's and 1 earned run.
SCOUTING REPORT
- The Colonials host the Panthers May 3rd for the second of two midweek games this season. The early May contest was originally scheduled at Vartabedian Field, but inclement weather the night before the late March game flipped destinations.
- Robert Morris has won eight of its last 11 games, most recently taking two of a three game series at Oakland.
- Erika Bell (#8) leads the offense with a .303 batting average with 37 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, three homers, 28 RBI, 11 runs and 16 walks. She has a team-high .508 slugging percentage and .388 on base percentage.
- Alaina Koutsogiani (#43) is one of the top players in the country in stolen bases, stealing 36 of 39 attempts and ranking 12th in the nation in that category. She also has a team-high 41 hits and 31 runs.
- Dana Vatakis (#12) has appeared in 19 games for Robert Morris, recording a 3.22 ERA with 86 strikeouts and three complete games.
UP NEXT
- Pitt concludes the season with three games against nationally ranked Duke starting Thursday, May 5.
- Thursday's contest will be live on the ACC Network with first pitch at 7 p.m.
