PITTSBURGH—Pitt's long and storied history of sending players to the National Football League continued this weekend during and after the 2022 NFL Draft.
The Panthers had two players selected during the three-day draft in Las Vegas over the weekend, while several others signed free agent contracts and earned tryouts with NFL teams.
Quarterback Kenny Pickett (1st round, 20th overall) went to the Pittsburgh Steelers, while cornerback Damarri Mathis (4th round, 115th overall) was taken by the Denver Broncos.

Pickett became Pitt's 26th all-time first round pick, while Mathis marked the sixth defensive back taken in the NFL Draft from Pitt during the Pat Narduzzi era.
In total, Narduzzi has produced 19 NFL Draft selections at Pitt, including eight picks in the last two years - the second most in the ACC during that span.
Following the conclusion of the Draft, a few Panthers were also picked up as priority free agents. Long snapper Cal Adomitis signed with the Cincinnati Bengals, while tight end Lucas Krull went to the New Orleans Saints. Wide receiver Taysir Mack also agreed to terms with the San Francisco 49ers.
