Pitt Lacrosse Adopts Lilli Durante Through Friends of Jaclyn Foundation

PITTSBURGH – Pitt Lacrosse announced its newest teammate recently, as the Panthers adopted eight-year-old Lilli Durante through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.
Lilli, who was diagnosed with an optic pathway glioma, a brain tumor that was pressing on her optic nerve and growing quickly, at age four but is currently in remission, was officially introduced to the team by Denis Murphy, the founder of the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.
Lili spent time with the team to celebrate her recent eighth birthday and also joined the Panthers for their home game against Boston College.
The Friends of Jaclyn program has the mission to improve the quality of life for children battling pediatric brain tumors and other childhood cancers and to raise awareness through their Adopt-A-Child, Safe on the Sidelines and Guardian Angel Programs.
Murphy started Friends of Jaclyn after his daughter was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor at the age of nine in March of 2004. Jaclyn was fortunate to meet the Northwestern women's lacrosse team, who later adopted her.
