FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Brock Franks hit a one-out, walk-off homer to right field to give Pitt baseball (6-4) a 6-5 win over Ohio State (3-7) in the All-American Classic Saturday at Segra Stadium. Hayden Summers (1-0) threw 3.1 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win with just one hit and one hit allowed and three strikeouts.
The Panthers set up the walk-off by scoring a run in the seventh inning to tie up the game. Tommy Tavarez drew a one-out walk, advanced to third base on a throwing error from the pitcher on a failed pickoff attempt and slide safely at home on a sac fly to left field from Sky Duff.
The Buckeyes grabbed the first lead in the opening frame. After the leadoff batter singled, a pair of throwing errors helped Ohio State get two runs.
Ohio State added to their lead with another sac fly in the third inning.
Tatem Levins cut the Panthers' deficit to one in the bottom of the inning. After Jordan Anderson singled up the middle with two outs, Levins crushed a ball well over the right field wall for the second-straight game with a homer and fourth of the year.
Pitt took the lead in the next inning. CJ Funk led off with a walk, advanced to second base on a groundout from Johnny Long and scored on a two-out double down the right field line from Brock Franks.
The Buckeyes quickly responded with a two-run homer with two outs in the next frame to take back the lead.
