The Opening Tip
• Pitt wraps up its regular season schedule Saturday, March 5 at Notre Dame. Tipoff is set for 2:30 p.m. on ESPN News from Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center.
• Eight of the past 10 meetings between the two schools have been decided by single digits, including a 68-67 Notre Dame win in the first meeting this season. The Irish made their final five threes of the game and scored the game-winning basket with under five seconds remaining.
• Pitt leads the ACC and ranks 18th nationally in free throw attempts (623). The Panthers have shot more free throws than their opponent in 23 of 30 games. Pitt also leads the ACC (35th NCAA) in made free throws (435).
• John Hugley has emerged as an All-ACC and ACC Most Improved Player candidate averaging 14.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. He has raised his averages by 9.7 ppg. and 3.8 rpg. from a year ago, while posting 21 double-figure scoring games and nine double-doubles.
• Mouhamadou Gueye has raised his averages to 10.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game in league play. An All-ACC Defensive Team candidate, Gueye has blocked two or more shots in 12 ACC contests.
• Jamarius Burton has scored 10 or more points in 17 league games and is averaging 13.5 points per game in ACC play. He has scored in double figures in 22 of 28 games played this season.

• John Hugley has scored in double figures 21 times, including a team-high eight games with 20 or more points. He leads Pitt in scoring (14.8 ppg.), rebounds (8.1 rpg.), offensive rebounds (83), defensive rebounds (159), field goals (142), free throws made (153), free throw attempts (214) and double-doubles (9).
• Mouhamadou Gueye leads the Panthers in three-point field goals (40) and blocked shots (63). He is the only player in the ACC and one of just two players out of power conferences (joined by Spencer Jones, Stanford) to lead his team in both categories. • John Hugley ranks 15th in the NCAA in free throw rate (69.7 pct.) and tied for 12th in fouls drawn per 40 minutes (6.8). He is third in the NCAA with 214 free throw attempts and is the 12th player (17 times) to record 200 or more free throw attempts in a season at Pitt.
• John Hugley (214) and Femi Odukale (146) have combined for 360 of the team's 623 free throw attempts (57.8 pct.). The tandem has combined to shoot 15 or more free throws in a game 11 times.
• John Hugley and Mouhamadou Gueye have combined to average 31.8 points and 15.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 56-of-99 (.566) from the field over the past five games.
• Mouhamadou Gueye is one of just two players in the NCAA with 40+ three-point field goals and 60+ blocked shots. He is the first player in program history to accomplish that feat.
