
Panthers Drop Regular Season Finale in South Bend

SOUTH BEND -- Mouhamadou Gueye posted 13 points, eight rebounds and three blocks but it wasn't enough to overcome blistering shooting from beyond teh arch by Notre Dame as the Panthers dropped their regular season finale Saturday afternoon at Purcell Pavilion.
John Hugley added 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 from the free throw line, while Nate Santos came off the bench to score seven points.
The Panthers took care of teh ball with just five turnovers but were unable to overcome cold-shooting from the floor. Hugley and Gueye combined to go 11-of-20 from the field, but the rest of the roster was just 12-of-44 (.273), including 2-of-22 (.091) from three-point range.
While Pitt struggled from the field Notre Dame shot 56.3 percent (27-of-48) from the field, including 14-of-24 (.583) from thrree-point range. Nate Laszewski led the Irish with 17 points, while Cormac Ryan added 15 with five three-point field goals. Blake Wesley (11), Dane Goodwin (10) and Paul Atkinson (10) also finished in double figures.
Pitt will enter the ACC Tournament presented by New York Life as the 12-ssed and will face Boston College Tuesday, March 8 at 2 p.m. from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The Panthers split a pair of games with Boston College during the regular season with each team winning on their home court.
