Pitt Drops Series-Finale 9-2 at No. 14 North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Pitt baseball (8-7, 0-3 ACC) dropped the series-finale 9-2 at No. 14 North Carolina (14-2, 3-0) Sunday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium. The Tar Heels scored eight unanswered runs to secure the win.
North Carolina scored in its first trip to the plate on an RBI-single following a leadoff double.
The Panthers took the lead in the fifth inning. Brock Franks drew a leadoff walk, and Sky Duff hit a one-out homer to right field, his first of the season.
The Tar Heels tied it up the next inning with a leadoff homer to left field and grabbed the lead back for good with a two-out, two-RBI double in the seventh inning.
North Carolina plated five runs in the eighth inning.
The Panthers return to action in Pittsburgh Tuesday at 3 p.m. against Bucknell for the home-opener at Cost Field.
