
Panthers Earn Season-High Score, Finish Second in Quad Meet

PITTSBURGH, Pa.—The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (4-4, 2-2 EAGL) earned the team's highest score of the season, 195.800, placing second of four teams in a quad meet at the Fitzgerald Field House Sunday afternoon.
Hallie Copperwheat dominated in the all-around, finishing with a 39.500 – the third-highest AA score in Pitt history. Copperwheat also secured four of five individual titles, placing first in every event but floor.
Pitt topped NC State (7-3,1-2 EAGL) and Alaska Anchorage (0-7, 0-3 MPSF), but fell just short against West Virginia (5-3, 0-2 Big 12).
VAULT
- The Panthers got off to a strong start on vault, with all six competitors earning a 9.700 or higher. Olivia Miller led off the event, earning a season-high of 9.800. Copperwheat and Katie Chamberlain both tied their career-high with a 9.825 and a 9.800 respectively. Sidney Washington scored a 9.825 and Ciara Ward anchored the event with a 9.775. The team's 49.025 is the team's highest vault score of the season.
BARS
- Pitt continued their momentum into bars, earning their second season-high team score with a 48.950. Chamberlain and Copperwheat both earned a 9.875 – the highest vault score by a Panther this season. All six gymnasts earned a 9.700 or higher for the second consecutive event.
BEAM
- Copperwheat highlighted the Panthers' performance on beam earning a career-high and meet-high 9.925. Kiley Robatin tied her season high with her second 9.850 of the season. The team scored a 48.775, trailing West Virginia 147.075-146.750 heading into the final rotation.
FLOOR
- Copperwheat concluded her pursuit of the all-around with a career-high 9.875. Jordyn Ewing also recorded a new personal best of 9.875. Miller earned her third 9.750 of the season and Washington anchored with a 9.725. The team concluded the final rotation with an event score of 49.050, the highest of the day for the Panthers.
UP NEXT
- Pitt will travel to Morgantown, W. Va. for the team's second meeting with the Mountaineers of the season. The two teams will be joined by Texas Woman's University for a tri-meet at the WVU Coliseum Friday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m.
