Panthers Wrap Up Tri-Meet at West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. —The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (5-5, 2-2 EAGL) finished second of three teams in a tri-meet with West Virginia and Texas Woman's at the WVU Coliseum Friday night.
In her all-around debut, freshman Jordyn Ewing scored a team-high 39.000, earning third overall. Ewing also recorded three career-high scores on bars (9.800), beam (9.750), and vault (9.650).
The Panthers topped the TWU Pioneers, 194.575-194.500, for the second time this season, but fell short against the Mountaineers 195.900-194.575.
BARS
Copperwheat tied her career-high 9.825 for the third consecutive meet in the anchor position. The freshman has had the highest bar score for the Panthers for the last four meets. Ewing kicked off the night with her first career-high of 9.800. Katie Chamberlain also recorded a 9.800, followed by Sidney Washington who earned a 9.775. All six competitors scored a 9.675 or higher, combining for a team score of 48.925 – the highest of the night.
BEAM
Ewing continued her momentum into beam where she tallied her second career-high of the night with a 9.750. Copperwheat anchored with a team-high 9.850, continuing her streak of scoring a 9.800 or higher in the event throughout her collegiate career. Kiley Robatin recorded a 9.825 and Chamberlain earned a 9.775. The Panthers finished with a team score of 48.100.
FLOOR
Three Panthers earned team-high 9.800s – Olivia Miller, Erin Hutchison, and Ewing. Washington recorded a 9.750, followed by Robatin who secured a 9.650 in her event debut of the season. Pitt finished the third rotation with a 48.700.
VAULT
All six competitors scored over the 9.650 threshold to finish out the night. Washington earned a team-high 9.825 and has scored a 9.750 or higher every meet of her collegiate career. Chamberlain recorded tied her career-high 9.800, followed by Copperwheat with a 9.775. Ewing concluded her debut all-around pursuit with a career-high 9.650 - her third of the night. Pitt finished the night with a final team score of 48.850.
