
Panthers Return to Denton for Tri-Meet

PITTSBURGH, Pa.— For the second time this season, the Pitt Gymnastics team (8-6, 4-2 EAGL) is headed to Denton, Texas to compete against host Texas Woman's (6-9, 0-0 MIC) in a tri-meet with No. 6 LSU (5-2, 4-2 SEC) at 7 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT at Kitty Magee Arena.

LAST TIME OUT – PANTHERS MAKE HISTORY
- The Panthers made history in a tri-meet with George Washington and New Hampshire Sunday afternoon posting the highest overall score in program history, 196.775, and breaking the team beam record for the second time this season with a score of 49.325.
- Jordyn Ewing earned the individual title on bars with a career-high 9.925, while Katie Chamberlain tied for first on beam with a career-high 9.925. Chamberlain also earned a 9.900 on bars – her second consecutive bar score of a 9.900 or higher.
- The Panthers' record-breaking score topped both George Washington, 196.775-196.375, and New Hampshire, 196.775-195.125 to pick up two conference wins.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
- Texas Woman's (6-9, 0-0 MIC) are coming off a strong performance in a quad meet with at UC Davis versus Air Force and Alaska. The team placed second, falling only to UC Davis with a team score of 194.275.
- Five gymnasts set or equaled career highs as the Pioneers cleared the 194-point plateau for the fourth consecutive meet.
- Madeline Gose and Sierra Muns led-off TWU with matching 9.900 scores on floor.
- Friday will be the 8th meeting between the Pioneers and Pitt, the 3rd overall this season and the 2nd in Denton. The Panthers had a memorable win the first time around in Kitty Magee Arena, breaking the program beam record for the first time this season with a team score of 49.200 en route to a 195.575-192.925 win over the Pioneers on Jan. 22. The Panthers topped the Pioneers at WVU, 194.575-194.500 on Feb. 11 as well.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
- No. 6 LSU (5-2, 4-2 SEC) is coming off a second-place finish in a tri-meet at Missouri versus Arkansas, finishing behind Missouri (197.350) and ahead of Arkansas (197.850) with a team score of 197.200.
- Sophomore Haleigh Bryant scored a career-high 39.700 in the all-around, punctuated by a perfect 10 on vault - the fourth of her career. She owns the third-most 10's on vault in school history and is only the second gymnast in the nation with multiple perfect scores on vault in 2022.
- The Tigers have been in Road to Nationals' Top 10 all seven weeks this season, with their lowest ranking of 8th occurring Week 4.
- Sunday's meet will be the 3rd meeting between LSU and the first in more than 40 years. The Tigers currently hold a 2-0 lead in the series with Pitt.

- The Panthers return home for the final home meet of the season vs. Towson on Sunday, March 6 at 2 p.m. at the Fitzgerald Field House. We will honor and celebrate our seniors prior to the awards ceremony.
