
Pitt Heads To Boston College For Tuesday Night Clash

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's basketball team (11-13, 2-11 ACC) hits the road for their first of three straight this week as they travel to Boston to take on the Boston College Eagles on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm on ACC Network Extra.

- The Eagles are led offensively by Taylor Soule who is averaging a team-high 15.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 50.8% from the floor.
- Cameron Swartz is enjoying a career year as she is averaging 15.0 points and 4.0 rebounds while knocking down 40 three-pointers and shooting 41.1% from the floor.
- Freshman Maria Gakdong has made an impact as she is averaging 8.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and a team-high 21. blocks while shooting 59.9% from the floor.
- As a team, Boston College is averaging 72.5 points per game while connecting on 44.9% of their field goal attempts which ranks 3rd in the ACC.
- The Panthers have continued to put an emphasis on rebounding the basketball and it has paid off in a major way. Pitt currently leads the ACC and ranks 8th in the NCAA in rebounds per game (45.0) and 7th in total rebounds (1,079). The Panthers have grabbed at least 35 rebounds in all 24 games to start the season, a new program record.
- As a team, the Panthers have been strong defensively including blocking shots. Pitt currently ranks 2nd in the ACC and 18th in the NCAA in blocked shots (117). Junior Rita Igbokwe has 53 blocks on the year and is now tied for 10th place on the Panthers' all-time blocks list with 142.
- Pitt hits the road for the first of three straight on the road Tuesday night as they head to Boston College for a 7pm tip on ACC Network Extra.
- Pitt and South Carolina (#1 FG% defense) are the only Power 5 teams to hold all 24 opponents to 45% or less shooting from the floor this season.
- Senior Jayla Everett is leading the Panthers and ranks 12th in the ACC in scoring (13.6 ppg) so far this season. Last time out, Everett netted her 17th game in double figures as she finished with 11 points while grabbing a season-high seven rebounds and hitting three triples.
- Despite leading by as many as 13 in the first half, the Panthers fell to Syracuse on Sunday afternoon in the 15th annual Pink The Pete game, 67-65. The Orange hit a game-winning shot with nine seconds left to secure the road win.
- Junior Amber Brown led the way for Pitt with her seventh career double-double as she netted 14 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals in 26 minutes of work.
- Rita Igbokwe finished off her afternoon with 13 points, seven rebounds and four blocks, her 13th multi-block game of the season. Jayla Everett chipped in with 11 points and a career-high seven rebounds in the loss.
- The Panthers continued to attack the offensive glass as they grabbed 20 offensive rebounds and scored 44 points in the paint in the loss.
- The Panthers stay on the road as they head south to take on Miami on Thursday night at 6:00 pm on ACC Network.
