
Panthers Head to Maryland for Tri-Meet

PITTSBURGH, Pa.—The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (5-5, 2-2 EAGL) will travel to College Park, Md. for a tri-meet with the Terrapins and No. 6 Minnesota Monday, Feb. 14 at 3 p.m. in the XFINITY Center.

LAST TIME OUT
- The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team finished second of three teams in a tri-meet with West Virginia and Texas Woman's at the WVU Coliseum Friday night.
- In her all-around debut, freshman Jordyn Ewing scored a team-high 39.000, earning third overall. Ewing also recorded three career-high scores on bars (9.800), beam (9.750), and vault (9.650).
- Bars was the strongest event of the night with all six gymnasts earning a 9.675 or higher to combine for a team score of 48.925. Hallie Copperwheat tied her career-high 9.825 for the third consecutive meet.
- Copperwheat has scored a 9.800 or higher every meet during her collegiate career on beam, while Sidney Washington has consistently scored a 9.750 or higher on vault since her collegiate debut, Jan. 16.
SCOUTING THE TERRAPINS
- Maryland (3-2, 1-2) picked up its first conference win of the year as it defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 196.125-195.625 on Friday evening.
- The Terps have consistently improved their overall team score every meet this season.
- Sunday will be the 60th meeting between the Terrapins and Pitt. Maryland currently holds a 2-11 lead over the Panthers when competing in College Park. This is the second meeting between the two teams during the 2022 season.
SCOUTING THE GOPHERS
- No. 6 Minnesota (4-1, 3-1 Big Ten) is coming off a win against Ohio State 197.575 – 195.775 on Saturday afternoon.
- Minnesota's team score of 197.575 was its second-best score of the season and seventh best score in program history.
- The team has been ranked in Road to Nationals' Top 10 for three consecutive weeks, sitting Week 5 at No. 6.
- Monday's meet will be the 4th meeting between Minnesota and Pitt in program history. The Gophers currently hold a 1-0 lead against the Panthers when competing at a neutral site.
