
Pitt Back In Action This Weekend At Tiger Paw Invitational In Clemson

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt track and field team hits the road once again this weekend as they head south to compete in the Tiger Paw Invitational hosted by the Clemson Tigers.

- Teams competing include Texas, USC, Pitt, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Harvard, Hampton, NC A&T, UCF, Tennessee, Georgia, Auburn, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina, Houston, Kentucky, Syracuse, Kansas, Villanova, Virginia.
- The meet features seven top-25 ranked men's teams including three of the top five in Texas (No. 1), NC A&T (No. 2) and Georgia (No. 4).
- Pitt had five student-athletes earn top-10 program marks led by Abena Atuobi who notched a huge PR throw in the shot put, the second-best throw in program history in the event. Atuobi posted a throw that traveled 51'11.25" (15.83m) to take home fifth place in the talented field.
- For the second straight meet, transfer Clement Campbell posted a top-10 mark in the long jump for the Panthers as he took home second place in the event. Campbell notched a PR jump that cleared 24'3.75" (7.41m), the fourth-best jump in program history in the event.
- On the track, Pitt had three top-10 marks led by Luke Henseler who notched a new PR time of 8:11.70 in the 3000m run. His time is currently the fifth-best in program history in the event.
- Freshman Caleia Johnson was impressive all weekend long as she secured fifth place in the 200m dash with a new PR time of 24.23 seconds, the eighth best time in program history. She also finished in sixth place in the 60m dash with a new PR time of 7.60 seconds.
- In the 800m run, freshman Finn Walsh raced to a fourth place finish with a new PR time of 1:52.05, tied for 10th in program history.
- The Panthers wrap up the regular season next weekend as they head down to Blacksburg for the Virginia Tech Challenge on Feb. 18-19.
