PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh wrestling program concludes its 2021-22 home schedule with an exciting visit from the defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion and No. 4 NC State.
The Panthers (7-5, 1-2 ACC) will welcome the Wolfpack (10-1, 3-0 ACC) to Fitzgerald Field House as some of the nation's top wrestlers prepare to take the mat on Friday night at 7 p.m.
The dual was also selected for broadcast on the ACC Network, with popular commentators Rock Harrison and Shawn Kenney on the call for the linear telecast to millions of homes across the country.
Pitt wrestling and head coach Keith Gavin will honor five seniors before the dual.
Graduate transfers Gage Curry and Elijah Cleary will be recognized along with long-time Panthers Jake Wentzel, Gregg Harvey and Hunter Kernan. Fans are asked to be their seats by 6:45 p.m. to honor the departing seniors who made such a big impact on Pitt's program.
Tickets for the Pitt-NC State dual are still available online at PittsburghPanthers.com for $5, while tickets will also be sold at the gate at the Fitzgerald Field House for $8 on Friday night.
As many as 16 ranked wrestlers could compete Friday night, including Pitt top-10 standouts Nino Bonaccorsi, Micky Phillippi and Cole Matthews, who is the reigning ACC Wrestler of the Week. All three will likely face ranked opponents from the Wolfpack.
Wentzel is set to challenge nemesis Thomas Bullard in another ranked matchup at 165 pounds, while Cleary and Curry also enter Friday expecting to meet ranked opponents in key matches in the dual.
