PITTSBURGH – Fans got their first glimpse of the 2023 University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team on Monday night in the Fitzgerald Field House.
"Tonight was overall a great experience for the team," said head coach Samantha Snider. "They showed some great performances, but also presented areas that we are looking forward to growing and learning from. We are excited to open our season on January 6th with the Keystone Classic where we will be able to showcase new faces that were unable to compete in tonight's events against some great competition."
Pitt gymnastics' Panther Preview exhibition meet allowed several newcomers to present their skills in front of fans for the first time. Freshmen, Natalia Pawlak, Reyna Garvey, Jillian Zitcovich and Lucia Jakab were able to showcase their talent and produced dominant performances in tonight's events.
Some star returners, Hallie Copperwheat, Jordyn Ewing, Sidney Washinton, Christina Weiss, Nay'yarrah Winder, Ciara Ward and Kendall Foy were also catching the eyes of the fans. After tonight's events, the Pitt gymnastics team is primed with a great start for the upcoming 2023 season.
