Panthers Win Fall Games Against Glenville State

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt softball team came out victorious in both games of a double-header against Glenville State, Saturday afternoon at Vartabedian Field.
The Panthers won by the scores of 16-2 in game one (5 innings) and 5-2 in game two.
Game One
After three straight walks to start the bottom of the second inning, graduate student Sarah Seamans got the Panthers' bats started with a grand slam. Senior Kat Rodriguez and sophomore Rachael Fuerst followed by each hitting a two-run homer to cap off an 11-run inning.
The Panthers totaled five home runs en route to their 5-inning win, with blasts from Seamans, Rodriguez, Fuerst, Bailey Drapola, and Kendall Brown.
Game Two
The Panthers' hot bats continued into the second game, as junior Cami Compson got Pitt on the board with a two-run homer, followed by another two-run shot by Haylie Brunson in the next inning.
The pitching trio of Adriana Romano, Abby Edwards, and Brown dominated in the circle. Romano gave up just one earned run while striking out six batters. Edwards and Brown each struck out the side in the final two frames to secure the Panthers' double-header sweep of the Pioneers.
Pitt will wrap up their fall season tomorrow at Vartabedian field with another double-header scheduled against Kent State. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
