PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh wrestling team welcomes yet another top-10 program to Fitzgerald Field House this month when the No. 19 Panthers face No. 8 Virginia Tech on Sunday.
The Panthers (6-3, 1-0 ACC) have already challenged No. 3 Michigan and beaten No. 6 Arizona State at home in January – and now they get to face the Hokies (5-4, 0-1 ACC) in conference action.
This exciting ACC dual, which was originally scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m., has been adjusted to a 2 p.m. start on Sunday, Jan. 30 at Fitzgerald Field House. Tickets are on sale via PittsburghPanthers.com.
The Pitt-Virginia Tech dual will be also be streamed on ACC Network Extra and via the ESPN app.
If the Panthers want to notch another ranked victory at home and stay undefeated in the ACC this season, they will need to be at their best on Sunday.
The Hokies' projected lineup features seven ranked wrestlers, while Pitt has six ranked grapplers.
No. 7 Micky Phillippi vs. No. 5 Korbin Myers at 133 pounds represents the top matchup of the evening in a rematch of last year's ACC final at that weight class. No. 31 Gage Curry at 125, No. 21 Elijah Cleary at 157, No. 31 Gregg Harvey at 184 and No. 8 Nino Bonaccorsi at 197 also are likely to see ranked opponents from Virginia Tech.
Bonaccorsi was recently named the ACC Wrestler of the Week for the fourth time in his career.
Pitt head coach Keith Gavin will be seeking his 10th ranked win of his coaching career at his alma mater.
Full match notes and probables can be found here.
