Right Side Hitter Helped Lead Panthers to Three Wins
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Fifth-year senior right side hitter Chinaza Ndee of the No. 4 Pitt volleyball team (8-0, 0-0 ACC) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday.
Ndee's honors are her first of the season and the fourth of her career. The Houston, Texas, native last earned the honors for the week of March 30, 2021. She is the second Panther to earn the accolades this season, following classmate Kayla Lund for the week of Sept. 7.
Ndee earned the honors following her efforts to lead the Panthers to a 3-0 weekend at the Panther Challenge at Fitzgerald Field House (Sept. 10-11). She notched 3.90 kills per set while hitting .367 over the three matches, which included a 3-1 win over No. 12 BYU (Sept. 10). It was the Panthers' fourth win over a Top 25 opponent so far this season.
The right side hitter totaled 39 kills over the three matches played, including a season-best 17 kills against the Cougars on .359 hitting. She hit .500 against High Point with 12 kills to open the tournament (Sept. 10) and posted three blocks against Bowling Green (Sept. 11).
Up next, Pitt will travel to Morehead, Ky., for a pair of matches as part of the Comfort Inn-vitational hosted by Morehead State. The Panthers will take on Marshall Friday at 2 p.m. before facing the host Eagles Saturday at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
