PITTSBURGH—University of Pittsburgh senior punter Kirk Christodoulou was watch listed as a preseason candidate for college football punter of the year by the Ray Guy Award on Wednesday.
Christodoulou (Melbourne, Australia/Balwyn) is coming off his best season with the Panthers after being named a Pro Football Focus All-American (second team) and Guy Award semifinalist in 2020.
He played in all 11 games and averaged a career-high 44.7 yards on 53 punts to rank 16th nationally. However, Pitt's net punting average last season was a school-record 41.94, which placed 11th in the FBS. Christodoulou placed 23 punts inside the 20-yard line with just one touchback and 30 of his punts resulted in a fair catch.
Displaying his consistent improvement throughout his career and last season, none of Pitt's final four opponents in 2020 managed any punt return yards. And Christodoulou was named Ray Guy National Punter of the Week for his performances against Florida State (Nov. 7) and Clemson (Nov. 28).
