The Panthers scored in the game's first frame. Kyle Hess led off with a walk, and Nico Popa dropped a single into right field. After a sac bunt from Sky Duff, Ron Washington, Jr. knocked in Hess on an RBI-groundout.
The Demon Deacons went ahead in the next inning on a two-out two-run double.
Pitt tied it up in the third inning. Brock Franks drew a leadoff walk, went to second base on a passed ball, got to third on a groundout and slide home safely on a sac fly to right field from Popa.

Wake Forest took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning with a leadoff homer, two-out RBI-single and two-run triple.
David Yanni led off the fourth inning with a solo homer to left field, his team-high 12th of the year.

The Demon Deacons put the game out of reach with six runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Panthers produced their last two runs in the final frame. Pinch-hitter CJ Funk and Kyle Hess were both hit by pitches, and Washington, Jr. loaded the bases with one out. A passed ball and wild pitch allowed Funk and Hess to slide in head first safely at home plate.
The series finale is Saturday at 1 p.m.

- Yanni tied Stuart Rykaceski (1999-03) for the eighth-most runs (143).
