PITTSBURGH – No. 16 Pitt (22-16, 16-14) fell 10-3 to NC State (26-14, 17-13) Sunday at Charles L. Cost Field.

The Wolfpack scored in its first trip to the plate, getting a two-out RBI-single.

The Panthers tied it up in the bottom of the inning. With two outs, Kyle Hess singled through the right side. After the bases were load from a Ron Washington, Jr. single to right field and David Yanni walk

NC State took the lead for good with three homers in the next two innings.

Pitt produced its other two runs in the eighth inning. Hess led off with a double to left center, and Washington, Jr. followed with a 451-foot homer to dead center, his seventh of the year.

Pitt plays Akron at home Tuesday at 3 p.m. on the ACC Network for its final nonconference game of the regular season.

Yanni moved ahead of John Shultz (2008-11) for the most career walks (143) in program history.
Yanni also tied Peter Parise (2004-07) for the most career starts (208).
Nico Popa tied Scott Folmar (2000-03) for the seventh-most starts (190) and Frank Maldonado (2014-18) for the ninth-most games played (196).
Billy Corcoran started and went 2.1 innings with five runs, five hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
CJ McKennitt threw an inning of scoreless relief with no hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
Washington, Jr. tied for a game-high three hits.
Sky Duff and Popa each had two hits.
