Panthers Set for Four Games at Home vs. Louisville

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh softball team hosts ACC opponent Louisville for four games this weekend at Vartabedian Field. Game action begins Saturday afternoon with a double-header starting at 2 p.m.

- Pitt hosts Louisville for four games starting Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
- The series was originally scheduled to begin Thursday, April 1, but due to cold weather in the Pittsburgh area Thursday and Friday afternoons, the series was pushed back two days.
- The series begins with a double-header Saturday afternoon at 2 PM. Game two will start at approximately 4:30 PM.
- The two teams meet for a single-game Sunday at 2 PM. The series concludes Monday afternoon at 12 PM.
- All games will be broadcast on the ACCNX.
- Speedster sophomore EC Taylor has shown her quickness on the base paths in her first season as a Panther.
- Taylor is tied for the team lead in hits (25) and is first in runs (16), is tied for first in doubles (5) and leads the ACC in stolen bases with 20. Her stolen base count is tied for fifth in the nation and her .74 stolen bases per game is tied for 16th in the country.
- Her four stolen bases Sunday, Feb. 21 against Virginia were the most in a single-game in school history, surpassing the previous mark of three most recently held by Reba Tutt (2011).
- Taylor stole three bases against Toledo Feb. 27, becoming the first Panther since Reba Tutt (2011) to have three stolen bags in a game.
- Taylor had four hits, a double, four RBI and three stolen bases at the FAU Parent's Weekend Tournament in Boca Raton, Fla.
- Taylor went 6-for-15 with seven runs, one double, one RBI and stole two bases at Georgia Tech.
- Freshman Cami Compson has flexed her muscles this season, hitting five home runs and registering two doubles, 13 RBI, 39 total bases and a team-best .582 slugging percentage. She also leads the team with a .400 on-base percentage.
- Compson went 5-for-13 with two homers, four RBI, 11 total bases and recorded a .846 slugging percentage at Georgia Tech.
- Compson went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI in game one of its double-header Saturday, Mar. 13 at Georgia Tech.
- Compson totaled six RBI in one game Feb. 26 at Mercer, going 4-for-4 with one double, one homer and run. Her six RBI rank tied for second in the ACC for most in a single game this season.
- Louisville leads the all-time series 19-4.
- The Panthers are winners of two straight against the Cardinals, with their last win coming May 5, 2018 at home by 10-2 decision.
- Holly Aprile, who now is the head coach for Louisville, returns to Vartabedian for the first time since 2018. Aprile was the head coach for Pitt from 2009 to 2018, posting a 271-234-1 (.537) record.
- The Cardinals are 10-14 overall and 4-9 in the ACC. Louisville has endured a tough stretch of games the past two weeks, facing nationally ranked Clemson and Virginia Tech for four games each.
- Louisville is led offensively by redshirt junior Taylor Roby, who is batting a team-best .379 with 25 hits, three doubles, five home runs and 21 RBI. Roby is also 16th in the ACC in slugging percentage (.652).
- Redshirt senior Carmyn Greenwood leads the team in offensive categories, including runs (12), stolen bases (6) and hits (27). Greenwood also has an on-base percentage of .444.
- Roby has appeared in 17 games in the circle for the Cardinals and has a 6-7 record and a .245 ERA inside the circle. She has tallied 35 K's and has three complete games to her credit.
- Graduate student Jennifer Leonhardt has appeared in 15 games for Louisville, tallying a team-best 36 strikeouts and has held opponents to a .186 batting average in 35.1 innings pitched.
- The Panthers travel to NC State for four games beginning Thursday, April 8 at 6 p.m.
- The two teams play a double-header Saturday beginning at 12 p.m., and conclude play Sunday with one game at 5 p.m.
- Friday's game will be on the ACCNX, with Saturday's double-header being broadcast on RSN. Sunday's contest will be live on the ACC Network.
