Panthers Drop Final Game of Series to Syracuse

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh softball team fell, 9-3, to Syracuse at Vartabedian Field Sunday afternoon.
Syracuse (10-9, 6-6 ACC) scored the first run of the game (1-0) in the top of the first, as Gabby Teran recorded an RBI single to left. Pitt (9-18, 4-13 ACC) tied the game up at one in the bottom of the second, as freshman Cami Compson hit a solo home run to right field. The homer was her fifth of the season.
The Orange scored five runs in the top of the fourth and took a 6-1 advantage. The Panthers cut the Syracuse lead to three (6-3) in the bottom of the sixth via a two RBI triple from sophomore Sarah Seamans, but the Orange responded with three runs in the top of the seventh to lead, 9-3.
Compson went 1-for-3 with a RBI and run scored. Senior Hunter Levesque finished 1-for-2 with one run scored and a walk, while sophomore EC Taylor went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, both of which occurred in the same inning.
Pitt is back in action at home for a four game series against ACC foe Louisville starting Thursday, April 1 through Saturday, April 3. Thursday's game begins at 7 p.m. with live coverage on the ACCNX.
