PITTSBURGH – The Pitt track and field team will return to action this weekend with a pair of meets. The Panthers will send some athletes down south to the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State and some other athletes will stay home and compete in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
The Raleigh Relays will be a three-day meet that begins on Thursday, mar. 25 and run through Saturday, Mar. 27 while the CMU Invitational will be held on Saturday, Mar. 27.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS – RALEIGH RELAYS

The meet will begin on Thursday with the field events as the women's pole vault will kick things off at 10:00 am. The men's shot put will close out the field events for day one at 2:15 pm.
Track events will begin on Thursday at 2:15 pm with the women's 100m hurdles prelims and conclude at 9:20 pm with the women's 10,000m run.
Friday's field action will begin at 10:00 am with the women's discus and conclude with the men's triple jump at 2:00 pm.
Friday's track events will open at 3:30 pm with the women's 400m dash and conclude with the men's 10,000m run at 9:25 pm.
The final day of competition will open with the men's hammer throw at 10:00 am and conclude at 5:55 pm with the men's 4x400m relay.

PANTHERS POST SEVEN TOP-10 MARKS IN OPENING WEEKEND OF ACTION

The Panthers competed in their first outdoor meet in 662 days last weekend at the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables. The Panthers also participated in the Stan Romanoski Open hosted by West Virginia.
In total, the Panthers posted seven top-10 all-time marks throughout the weekend. Senior Noah Walker had himself a weekend as he notched two victories and two top-10 marks for the Panthers. Walker opened his weekend with a big PR throw in the hammer throw that traveled 194'10" (59.38m) to secure the victory, the second best heave in program history. He then backed that up with another win in the discus with a PR toss of 176'8" (53.85m), the second best in program history in the event.
Senior Abena Atuobi had a dominant showing in the shot put on Saturday as she blew away the field with a toss of 48'3.25" (14.71m), a new personal record toss and the fifth best in program history in the event. Sophomore Brianna Spirnak also posted a big victory in the javelin as she notched a new PR with a heave of 158'5" (48.28m), the fourth best toss in program history.
Pitt had a pair of top-10 marks in the women's hammer throw as freshman Foluke Olujide-Ajibade took home second place with a toss of 162'8" (49.58m), the seventh best in program history, and sophomore Shannah Mallett finished in third place with a heave of 160'9" (49.01m), the eighth best in program history.
On the track, senior Ally Brunton had a nice showing in the 800m dash as she won the event in 2:09.56, the fifth fastest time in the event in program history.

The Panthers return to action next weekend as they travel to Charlottesville, VA for the Virginia Invitational from April 2-3 at Lannigan Field.
