Panthers Place Sixth at Conference Meet
PITTSBURGH – Pitt senior Jordan Ceccarini tied her career-best score on floor exercise to earn a share of the event crown at the 2021 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship hosted at the Petersen Events Center Saturday night.
Ceccarini's career high-tying 9.900 was good for a three-way title on floor, along with Kendall Whitman of George Washington and Faith Leary of Temple. Ceccarini is Pitt's first event champion since Brittany West won balance beam with a 9.900 at the 2017 EAGL Championship.
As a team, Pitt placed sixth overall with a score of 194.350. Temple earned the team title with a 196.500, marking their first championship in their first season as a member of the EAGL.
The Panthers earned their highest floor exercise team score of the year with a 49.050.
COCA NAMED SENIOR GYMNAST OF THE YEAR
Pitt's Katrina Coca was named the 20201 Senior Gymnast of the Year following the championship meet. Taking an unconventional path to her senior season at Pitt, Coca persevered through multiple injuries, including a ruptured Achilles in 2020, to compete as an all-arounder for the Panthers in 2021. Her return to competition included five individual event titles and a second-place ranking in the EAGL on bars.
