Panthers Drop First Game of Series at No. 18/16 Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The University of Pittsburgh softball team fell to No. 18/16 Virginia Tech, 9-0, in five innings at Tech Softball Park Friday evening.
Virginia Tech (13-3, 8-3 ACC) recorded six runs off of four hits in the bottom of the first to lead, 6-0. The Hokies added three runs in the bottom of the fourth (9-0) and the Panthers went down in order in the top of the fifth.
Sophomore Kayla Lane went 1-for-1 for the evening. Pitt fell to 8-12 overall and 3-7 in conference play.
The Panthers are back on the field tomorrow for a double-header against the Hokies beginning at 1 p.m. Live coverage will be held on the ACCNX.
