Panthers to Host League’s First Eight-Team Championship
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh will host the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship at Petersen Events Center for the first time since 2004 when the Panthers welcome their seven conference opponents to Pittsburgh Saturday.
In conjunction with the EAGL's expansion from six to eight teams in 2021, the championship format will feature two quad-meet sessions, with the first to be held at 1 p.m. ET with the odd-numbered seeds, and the second at 7 p.m. ET with the even-numbered seeds. Both sessions will be streamed live on ESPN3, available through the ESPN app.
Each team's session designation (1 or 2) was based on final conference standings (1 through 8), which were determined by National Qualifying Scores (NQS) at the conclusion of the regular season. The final regulars season standings are as follows:
NC State, New Hampshire, North Carolina and George Washington will compete in Session 1 at 1 p.m. ET, followed by Towson, Temple, Pitt and LIU in Session 2 at 7 p.m. ET. The team with the highest overall score at the meet (no matter the session) will be crowned the 2021 EAGL champion.
