Panthers to Compete Against Mountaineers Friday, Sunday
PITTSBURGH – The Pitt gymnastics team (5-9-1) will compete twice against West Virginia (1-6, 0-6 Big 12) in the Backyard Brawl series this week: Friday at 7 p.m. ET at Fitzgerald Field House, and Sunday at 2 p.m. ET at WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, W.Va.

SENIOR NIGHT - FRIDAY
- Following the conclusion of Friday's meet at Fitzgerald Field House, the Panthers will honor active senior gymnasts Jordan Ceccarini, Katrina Coca and Kailey Gillings, along with graduating seniors Sophie Bochenek and Haley Brechwald.
LAST TIME OUT
- Pitt fell in the first of three consecutive meetings with West Virginia in the Backyard Brawl rivalry series Friday night at Fitzgerald Field House. The Mountaineers earned the team win by a score of 195.900-194.175.
- Two Panthers earned individual event victories: sophomore Emily Liszewski had a career day on vault, winning the event with a 9.875. Junior Olivia Miller topped the all-around competition by tying her career-high score of 39.050. Miller last earned the score as a freshman, in the first meet of her career, on Jan. 12, 2019.
- Katrina Coca made her career debut on both floor exercise and the all-around, earning a 9.700 and a 38.800, respectively.
- Pitt's team score of 48.950 on floor exercise was a season-high mark on the event for the Panthers.
RANKING THE PANTHERS
- Pitt has two gymnasts in the EAGL's bars rankings.
- Katrina Coca its tied for second in the league with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 9.881, ranked No. 50 in the nation.
- Junior Katie Chamberlain is tied for fifth in the EAGL standings and is No. 80 nationally with a NQS of 9.863.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
- Friday and Sunday will complete the three-meet Backyard Brawl series between the Panthers and West Virginia. The Mountaineers claimed the first meeting (March 5), by scores of 195.900-194.175.
- West Virginia is ranked No. 36 nationally, meaning if the 2021 season ended today, the Mountaineers would qualify for an NCAA Regional meet.
WE'RE HOSTING!
- The University of Pittsburgh will host the 2021 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship at Petersen Events Center Saturday, March 20, as announced by the conference Thursday.
- In conjunction with the league's expansion from six to eight teams in 2021, the championship format will feature two quad-meet sessions, with the first to be held at 1 p.m. ET, and the second at 7 p.m. ET.
- Each team's session designation (1 or 2) will depend on final conference standings (1 through 8), which will be determined by National Qualifying Scores (NQS) at the conclusion of the regular season.
- Both sessions will be streamed live on ESPN3, available through the ESPN app.

- The Panthers will serve as hosts for the 2021 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship at Petersen Events Center Saturday, March 20. The championship will be split into two sessions (1 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET), both of which will be streamed on ESPN3.
