- The series is tied, 3-3, in games being played in Pittsburgh.
- Virginia Tech has won four straight in the series including an 88-71 victory earlier this season.
- A slow start and slow finish cost the Panthers a big road victory on Thursday night as the Syracuse Orange handed the Panthers the 80-57 defeat.
- Pitt allowed 20 points in the first 4:09 of the game and 20 more points in the final 4:20 of the game.
- The Panthers were led offensively by Dayshanette Harris who netted 14 points and four assists while going 7-for-11 from the floor. Rita Igbokwe finished off her third straight strong effort with nine points, eight rebounds and three blocks while Amber Brown notched nine points and eight boards in the loss.
- Shots just weren't falling for the Panthers as they connected on a season-low three triples while shooting 32.8% from the floor overall, just their second game not shooting at least 40%.
- Sophomore point guard Dayshanette Harris is one of seven players in the NCAA to be averaging at least 13.8 ppg, 5.3 apg, 4.8 rpg and 1.3 spg so far this season.
- The Pitt offense ranks ninth in scoring in the ACC so far this season (70.0 ppg). Pitt is also averaging 68.0 ppg through six ACC games, their highest ppg total through the first six games of conference play since joining the league in 2013-14. Pitt has also shot at least 40% from the floor in seven of nine games this season, marking the first time in over 20 years they have done so.
- Pitt returns to the court Thursday, Feb. 4 as they play host to Virginia Tech at 7:00 pm. Thursday's game will air on RSN (AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh).
- The Pitt backcourt duo of Jayla Everett and Dayshanette Harris are the third highest scoring backcourt in the ACC overall and in ACC games this season (28.9 ppg / 27.3 ppg - min. 6 ACC GP).
- Sophomore center Rita Igbokwe has taken her play to a new level over the last three games as she is averaging 10.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 3.3 bpg while shooting 60% from the floor. Igbokwe seems to be gaining confidence which will help Pitt down the stretch of the regular season.
- The Panthers have scored 70+ points in six of their nine games this season, marking the first time Pitt has done so to start a season since the 2007-08 campaign when they opened the season with seven straight games with 70+ points scored. The 2007-08 Pitt team advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history.
- Pitt has scored 70+ points in three of their six ACC games so far this season, the most 70+ point outings in conference play since netting four such games in 2014-15.
- In the win over Clemson earlier this year, the Panthers netted 80 points for just the fifth time in an ACC game in program history. The Panthers are 5-0 when they score at least 80 points in a conference game.
- The offense has also put together three of the best scoring quarters since the NCAA switched to the four quarter format in 2015-16. Pitt netted 32 points in the 1st quarter vs. Virginia Tech, 31 points in the first quarter vs. Miami and 31 points in the 4th quarter vs. Clemson.

BENCH PROVIDING PRODUCTION
- The Pitt bench had their best game of the season Tuesday in the win over Clemson as they posted 39 points, the most in a game by the Pitt bench players since scoring 47 against New Orleans on Nov. 9, 2018.
- Pitt had five bench players score at least two points while Liatu King and Destiny Strother led the team and posted a career-best with 15 points each off the bench. King also led the squad with eight rebounds while Strother went an efficient 6-for-8 from the floor in the road victory.
- It marked the first time Pitt had two players score at least 15 points each off the bench since Feb. 2, 2017 against Syracuse when Alayna Gribble (23) and Kalista Walters (17) accomplished the feat.
- So far this season, the Pitt bench is averaging 22.0 points/game. It is an increase of +8.0 ppg from a season ago off the bench.
- The Panthers don't have much depth down low this season but sophomore Rita Igbokwe is doing her best to help Pitt win with her efforts down low.
- Over her last three games, the sophomore is averaging 10.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 3.3 bpg while shooting 60% from the floor in her last three starts.
- Last time out, Igbokwe posted nine points, a team-high eight rebounds and three blocks in 28 minutes at Syracuse.
- She continues to be a force down low as she ranks fourth in the ACC in blocks (2.0 bpg). She has three multi-block games this season and 20 total in her career.
- Igbokwe is the fastest player in program history to 78 blocked shots, doing so in 40 games.
- Pitt will stay at home for a rematch with the Syracuse Orange Sunday, Feb. 7 at 2:00 pm. Sunday's game will also be Senior Day for two Pitt seniors, Cara Judkins and Gabbie Green. The game will air on RSN (AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh locally).
