Boston College came out flying after the media timeout as they closed out the quarter with 10 straight points to take the 29-16 lead into the second quarter.
The Eagles pushed their lead to 16, 34-18, early in the second quarter but the Panthers responded as Tracey Hueston and Destiny Strother finished off layups to force a Boston College timeout with Pitt trailing 34-23. After a quick Eagles run, Strother netted five straight to get Pitt within nine, 39-30, but the Panthers weren't able to get any closer down the final seconds of the half as they went to the locker room trailing 44-34.
The Panthers came out of the locker room with much better energy as Amber Brown finished off back-to-back layups to get the offense going. Harris made two straight buckets before Gabbie Green earned a steal and sank two free throws to cut the Pitt deficit to three, 49-46. After the media timeout, the Panthers went on a 9-0 run which was capped with a fast break layup by Hueston after a great no look feed from Everett to force BC to take a timeout with Pitt leading 59-58. After a pair of BC buckets, Everett closed out the third with three free throws to give Pitt the 64-62 lead headed to the fourth.
The Pitt offense began to run through Everett in the fourth quarter as she netted five straight points to give Pitt the 71-66 lead two minutes in. Brown finished off a layup after a great feed from Everett and the junior then netted a jumper to send the game to the final media timeout with Pitt leading 75-70. The Eagles cut the Pitt lead to four, 79-75, with just over a minute to go but Liatu King came up with a huge layup to push the lead back to six. The Eagles cut the Pitt lead to one, 81-80, with 43 seconds to play and Harris came up with the biggest play of the game as she forced a jump ball after a missed triple with 10 seconds to go to give Pitt the ball back. After Everett made a free throw, the Eagles turned the ball over and the Panthers secured the 83-80 road win.
