Softball Announces 2022 Schedule

PITTSBURGH – Head Coach Jodi Hermanek and the Pitt softball team announced the 2022 spring schedule today.
NEWS & NOTES
The season opens in the Northern Lights Southern Nights Tournament in Leesburg, Fla. The Panthers open the season in Leesburg for the second-straight year. Opponents and time of play have yet to be determined, with Friday, Feb. 11 being the first day of competition. Teams in the tournament include Eastern Kentucky, Hofstra, Liberty, Michigan State, Northwestern, UConn, Kentucky, Missouri, Wisconsin, Iowa and Virginia Tech.

Pitt heads to College Station, Texas, for the Texas A&M Tournament Feb. 18-19. The 18th will see the Panthers play Missouri State (9 a.m.) and Stephen F. Austin (7 p.m.) and the 19th Kansas (11:30 a.m.) and host school Texas A&M (2 p.m.).
Following a trip out west, Pitt heads south to Spartanburg, S.C., for the USC Upstate Tournament Feb. 25-27. The Panthers open the tournament versus Tennessee Tech (11 a.m.) and Cleveland State (5 p.m.) on the 25th, followed by Tennessee Tech (11 a.m.) and host school USC Upstate (1 p.m.) the 26th. The tournament concludes with Pitt versus Cleveland State at 11 a.m. on the 27th.
After three-straight tournaments, the Panthers open ACC play on the road in Tallahassee, Fla., with three games against Florida State. Game one begins Friday, March 4 at 6 p.m.
Pitt concludes tournament play the following weekend in Nashville, Tenn., for the Lady Bison Classic hosted by Lipscomb March 11-13. March 11th sees Pitt play Bowling Green (2:30 p.m.) and Lipscomb (5 p.m.) followed by Houston Baptist (10 a.m.) and Bowling Green (12:30 p.m.) on March 12th. The Panthers finish play with Houston Baptist at 12 p.m. Sunday the 13th.
The Panthers' first home game is a single-game mid-week contest against Penn State Wednesday, March 16 at 5:30 p.m. This will be the first time since March 27, 2019 the two in-state schools will meet.
After its Penn State game, Pitt has six-straight home games with three games apiece with conference opponents Notre Dame (Mar. 18-20) and Virginia Tech (Mar. 25-27). Both series' will begin on the respective Fridays at 6 p.m., followed by Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at noon.
Pitt takes a quick trip to Coraoplis, Pa., to face Robert Morris at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Mar. 30. The Panthers then hit the road for three games against ACC opponent Syracuse April 1-3.
A mid-week contest with Saint Francis is scheduled for Wednesday, April 6 at 6 p.m., followed by three games against Clemson April 8-10. Pitt stays home with three games against conference opponent Boston College April 14-16.
A quick turnaround for the Panthers as Tuesday, April 19 sees them play Bucknell at 4 p.m. The Panthers travel to Charlottesville, Va., for three games against Virginia starting April 22 through April 24.
Robert Morris makes its trip to Vartabedian Field Tuesday, May 3 (6 p.m.) for the final regular season contest at home for Pitt. The Panthers end the regular season with three games at Duke from May 5-7.
For the first time in program history, Pitt will host the ACC Championship Tournament. The ACC teams who finish top-10 in the regular season standings will visit Vartabedian Field beginning May 11 with the Championship game concluding May 14. Further venue and ticket information for the ACC Championship will be posted on Pitt's website at a later date.
NEWS & NOTES

- Of the home opponents, Clemson visits Pittsburgh for the first time in school history April 8-10. The Tigers earned their first trip to the NCAA Tournament last spring.

- Single-game ACC contests will be sold separately and will be available to purchase in February.
