COLUMBUS, Ohio—The University of Pittsburgh wrestling team suffered a 30-7 defeat in dual action at No. 7 Ohio State on Sunday afternoon at Covelli Center.
The No. 22 Panthers (3-2) were defeated by the Buckeyes (4-0) in an exciting top Top-25 ACC-Big Ten matchup, falling in several close bouts and conceding bonus points in other contests.
Winning for Pitt on Sunday were veterans Micky Phillippi and Nino Bonaccorsi, who each impressed with high-scoring displays on the mat.
Phillippi converted his attacks and back points into a 14-3 major decision over Dylan Koontz, while Bonaccorsi was once again a takedown tactician in his 10-4 decision over No. 21 Gavin Hoffman.
But it wasn't enough for Pitt, who fell to 9-14 in the all-time series against Ohio State.
