
No. 3 Pitt Volleyball Sweeps Boston College on Senior Day

PITTSBURGH – The No. 3 Pitt volleyball team (22-2, 12-2 ACC) earned its fourth consecutive sweep with a win against Boston College (14-14, 4-10 ACC) on Senior Day at Fitzgerald Field House Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers picked up the victory by scores of 25-15, 25-19, 25-23. Pitt had the advantage in kills (46-31), assists (43-27), digs (42-31) and blocks (6.0-5.0) and hitting percentage (.333-.144). The Eagles had more service aces (6-4).
Immediately following the match, Pitt recognized seniors Kylee Levers, Kayla Lund, Leketor Member-Meneh and Chinaza Ndee. As a group, these Panthers have competed in a combined five NCAA Tournaments, including 2016, which was Pitt's first overall appearance in 12 years and its first second-round appearance in 13 years. They have totaled 152 wins, including 21 against Top 25 opponents and seven against the Top 10. They were part of three Pitt teams that earned the Panther's first ACC Volleyball Championships in school history, in addition to the longest NCAA run in program history, reaching the Elite Eight in 2020.
Ndee, a right side hitter, led Pitt with 13 kills on .417 hitting against the Eagles and added two blocks. Lund, Member-Meneh and middle blocker Serena Gray each contributed eight kills.
Middle blockers Sabrina Starks and Chiamaka Nwokolo had four blocks apiece. Libero Ashley Browske had a match-high 10 digs for the Panthers. Levers and Lexis Akeo produced 24 and 13 assists, respectively.
SET ONE: No. 3 Pitt 25, Boston College 15
Following a 1-1 tie, the Panthers stayed in front for the remainder of the set. An 8-2 run gave Pitt momentum, gaining a 12-5 lead. Later, a 4-0 run put the Panthers ahead by 12 (22-10), however, the Eagles answered with a 5-0 run to make it 22-15. Pitt finished things off with three consecutive points, including an ace from Levers to seal it. Lund and Gray had four kills apiece in the frame.
SET TWO: No. 3 Pitt 25, Boston College 15
A hot start by Boston College gave the Eagles a 4-0 advantage to start the frame. The Panthers were able to finally tie the frame at nine following a 4-0 run that ended with a Gray ace. Pitt's first lead of the set was 17-16, which was part of a 5-1 run that resulted in a 20-17 Pitt lead. The Panthers secured another 5-1 run to end the set with a 25-19 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
SET THREE: No. 3 Pitt 25, Boston College 23
The third set was filled with long runs by each team, with seven ties and four lead changes. The set tied up at 22 following a kill by Valeria Vazquez Gomez, which sparked a 4-1 run that ended the match in Pitt's favor (25-23).

The Panthers will travel to Washington, D.C., for a midweek non-conference tilt at American Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 3 p.m. ET, before heading north to Syracuse, N.Y., for another matchup with the Orange Friday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. ET.
