Pitt Set To Do Battle In St. Thomas At Paradise Jam

ST. THOMAS, USVI – The Pitt women's basketball team (4-0, 0-0 ACC) will be spending their Thanksgiving week in the Virgin Islands as they get set for three games in St. Thomas for the 2021 Paradise Jam tournament. Pitt will play #23 Texas A&M, Northwestern and South Dakota across three days at the University of St. Thomas.

- This marks the second game between the two programs with the Aggies holding the 1-0 edge in the series.
- Texas A&M won the lone meeting between the two in 2008 by the score of 56-50.
- The Panthers have continued to put an emphasis on rebounding the basketball and it has worked early on. Pitt currently leads the ACC and ranks second in the NCAA in rebounds per game (52.5) and rebound margin (+20.5) while ranking first in the ACC and fourth in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game (19.0).
- The Pitt offense is off to their best start in over 40 years as they are averaging 78.8 ppg through their first four games. The 315 points are the most through four games for Pitt since 1984-85 (322) and are the third most in program history. Pitt has scored 80+ points twice this season and are 7-0 when scoring 80+ under Lance White.
- Pitt is making their second trip to St. Thomas for the Paradise Jam as they last played in the event in 2015. They open up the tournament Thursday night at 8:00 pm EST against #23 Texas A&M. The game will air on ESPN3.
- Senior guard Jayla Everett is enjoying a strong start to her second season as a Panther as she ranks fourth in the ACC in scoring (18.3 ppg) while also adding 3.3 rpg, 2.0 apg and 1.8 spg. Last time out, Everett surpassed the 1,000 career point plateau.
- In the City Game win over Duquesne, Liatu King stepped up and made a huge impact off the Pitt bench. The sophomore finished with a season-high 12 points and nine rebounds to lead the Panthers to victory.
- The Panthers improved to 4-0 as they won their first road game of the season against crosstown rival Duquesne, 69-64.
- Pitt trailed by as many as eight but had a big fourth quarter to collect the victory.
- Jayla Everett led the way offensively as she netted 18 points and a season-high six rebounds while Amber Brown netted 14 points and four rebounds.
- Liatu King came off the bench and netted 12 points and nine rebounds to help Pitt secure the win.
- After the three-game Paradise Jam tournament, Pitt will return home on Wednesday, Dec. 1 as they welcome Rutgers to the Petersen Events Center for the B1G/ACC Challenge. The non-conference game against the Scarlet Knights will tip at 6:00 pm and air on the ACC Network.
- Wednesday's game will also be the inaugural Deaf Awareness Night at the Pete as the first 300 fans in attendance will receive a special American Sign Language Pitt shirt.
