
No. 3 Pitt Earns Revenge at No. 13 Georgia Tech, 3-1

ATLANTA – The No. 3 Pitt volleyball team (25-2, 14-2 ACC) avenged their loss against the Yellow Jackets with a 3-1 road victory at No. 13 Georgia Tech (21-5, 12-4 ACC) Friday night at O'Keefe Gymnasium.
Georgia Tech (then ranked No. 18) handed Pitt its first loss of the season, 3-2, at Fitzgerald Field House on Oct. 10.
After dropping the first set (25-17), the Panthers went on to win the next three (25-22, 25-23, 25-21). The Yellow Jackets had statistical advantages in kills (58-55), assists (57-51), service aces (4-3), digs (61-56), blocks (10.0-8.0) and hitting percentage (.259-.255).
Outside hitter Leketor Member-Meneh hit .325 for the match with a double-double of 16 kills and 12 digs. Fellow pin hitter Valeria Vazquez Gomez stepped up with 14 kills on .306 hitting ad added seven digs. Right side Chinaza Ndee produced 10 kills and three blocks for the Panthers.
Setters Lexis Akeo and Kylee Levers produced 24 and 19 assists, respectively. Libero Ashley Browske picked up a team-best 13 digs.
PITT VS. THE AVCA TOP 25
SET ONE: No. 3 Georgia Tech 25, No. 3 Pitt 17
Pitt took a 7-6 lead thanks to a 5-1 run, but it was their last lead of the first frame as the Yellow Jackets pulled ahead with a 5-0 run to seize momentum. The Panthers tried to close the gap with three unanswered points to make it 19-15, but the frame ended on a 6-2 GT swing as the Jackets took the set. Member-Meneh led Pitt with five kills as Pitt hit .062. Georgia Tech hit .342.
SET TWO: No. 3 Pitt 25, No. 13 Georgia Tech 22
It was a much better second set for the Panthers, as they out-hit the Yellow Jackets .306-.200. Vazquez Gomez provided a spark, totaling seven kills through two frames. An early 5-1 run swung momentum in Pitt's favor as it took a 10-5 lead. Georgia Tech used a 3-0 late run to come within two (21-19), but Pitt was able to hold on for the win to even things up at one.
SET THREE: No. 3 Pitt 25, No. 13 Georgia Tech 23
It was an extremely tight third set, with 20 ties and nine lead changes. Following a tie at 22, Pitt took a 23-22 lead after a GT service error. Next, the Panthers were able to reverse a call to earn set point (24-22). The Yellow Jackets earned one more point off a kill (24-23), but Gray put it away for the Panthers on the next sequence. The Panthers went up, 2-1, in the match, after hitting .375 in the third frame. Georgia Tech hit .211.
SET FOUR: No. 3 Pitt 25, No. 13 Georgia Tech 21
The fourth set saw six ties and two lead changes. Pitt pulled ahead with a 6-1 run to gain an 11-8 lead, one that they did not surrender. A 3-0 run gave Pitt a 23-18 advantage, and it held on to win 25-21 in the fourth for a 3-1 victory.
