PITTSBURGH — Pitt women's soccer junior Amanda West was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Two Team (DC, DE, KY, MD, NJ, PA and WV), the organization announced Thursday. West becomes the first Panther in program history to earn the honor.
The 2021 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA members, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
The Biological Sciences Major carried a 3.54 cumulative GPA into the current fall semester. West has been selected to the ACC Academic Honor Roll every season so far in her career and is the only Panther to be selected to the All-ACC Academic Team twice.
Despite missing seven games this fall, West ranked in the ACC second in game-winning goals (five), tied for fifth in goals (10) and tied for sixth in points (23). West scored in nine of 11 games played with four 3+ point games. She opened the season with a five-game scoring streak, the second-longest in program history.
West scored in four-straight games played to end the season. She produced the game-winning goal and assisted on another in a 2-0 road shutout of Miami. Returning from injury, she recorded a brace in a shutout over Boston College, including the game-winner, and then had the game-winning goal in another home shutout of NC State.
