Panthers Welcome Lafayette To Town Friday Night

PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh women's basketball team (1-0, 0-0 ACC) plays their second game in three days to start the season Friday night as they welcome the Lafayette Leopards to the Petersen Events Center for a 6:00 pm tip. Friday's game will air on ACC Network Extra with Jeff Hathhorn (PxP) and Hailey Zeise (Analyst) on the call.

- This meeting marks the fourth meeting between the two teams with Pitt holding the 2-1 edge in the series.
- The two teams last met in 2013 with Lafayette defeating Pitt 48-45.
- Pitt is 17-3 all-time against members of the Patriot League.
- The Panthers showed their depth in the season opening win over Radford as all 11 players netted at least two points and one rebound.
- Pitt is welcoming in just two newcomers, Mary Dunn (YSU transfer) and Maliyah Johnson (freshman) for the 2021-22 season. Pitt is one of three teams in the ACC with only one true freshman on their roster (Virginia Tech, Virginia).
- The Panthers rebounded the ball at a high level once again in the opener as they grabbed 58 boards including 27 offensive boards. It marked the most rebounds in a game for Pitt under White.
- Pitt will play their second game in three nights Friday as they welcome Lafayette to the Petersen Events Center for a 6pm tip on ACCNX.
- This marks season four for head coach Lance White and his offense is starting to click. After producing a program-best 64.3 ppg in ACC play last year, the Panthers opened the season with 82 points and improved to 6-0 under White when scoring 80+.
- Senior captain Jayla Everett picked up where she left off last season, when she earned All-ACC honors, in the opener as she netted a game-high 23 points, three assists and two steals while going 8-of-14 from the floor and 3-of-5 from behind the arc in the win.
- Pitt opened their 2021-22 campaign Wednesday night at the Pete with a decisive 82-63 victory over Radford.
- The Panthers were led offensively by senior Jayla Everett who netted a game-high 23 points while Emy Hayford chipped in with a career-high 15 points and Mary Dunn scored 11 points and eight boards in her Pitt debut.
- The Panthers completely dominated the boards on Wednesday as they held the 58-23 edge. The +35 rebounds margin was the largest for Pitt under Lance White.
- All 11 of the Pitt players who appeared in the game netted at least two points and one rebound in the win as it was a balanced attack that propel Pitt in the opener.
- The Panthers dominated Radford in their season opening victory, especially on the glass. But also in two other key areas.
- Pitt finished off the win over Radford with 54 points inside the paint which are the most scored in the paint since scoring 54 against Youngstown State on Dec. 2, 2009.
- The Panthers were also great in transition as they notched 27 fast break points in the win. The 27 points are the most in a game by Pitt since scoring 31 against Saint Francis (PA) on Dec. 28, 2014.
- Pitt returns home Wednesday, Nov. 17 as they welcome LIU to the Petersen Events Center for a non-conference game. Wednesday's game will air on the ACC Network Extra.
