Within the A Heats, Daisy Anderson earned first place in the 200 Back with a time of 2:00.89, as well as Adam Mahler in the 200 Fly securing the win at 1:48.89. Pitt tallied three second place finishes today which included Cooper Van der Laan – 200 Breast (2:03.24), Marcin Goraj – 200 Back (1:49.24), and Daisy Anderson – 200 IM (2:03.99). Both the men's (1:31.61) and women's (1:43.04) 200 medley relays won the bronze, in addition to Jill Berger in the 500 Free (5:03.81). Pitt earned nine podium finishes within the B heats.
"We were a lot better today than we were yesterday," said head coach John Hargis. "We do have some growing pains – we have a lot of youth who are just getting to understand where we are training wise and understanding they're going to be tired and sore, but you still need to stand up and race. It's our guys just being comfortable being tired at this time at the season, but ultimately, they rallied much better today than yesterday. False starting that first relay yesterday put ourselves 35 points in the hole which is tough to come out, especially at a meet like this where every race matters. All in all, we saw a lot of really good performances, especially today, and a lot to build from going into next week."
Two more diving NCAA zone cuts were earned today for the Panthers. Amy Read finished the day in third place in the 1M with 285.15 points and Dylan Reed concluded in second place in the men's 3M with a score of 335.30. The Panthers earned five overall cuts throughout this meet, building off of Read's 3M, Reed's 1M and Cameron Cash's 1M day one performances."Today we saw some solid dives," head diving coach Katie Kasprzak said. We have some clear focus and goals and are excited to get back to Trees to be even better next weekend."
