Panthers Set to Attend FIU TYR Fall Classic
10/7/2021 10:45:00 AM | Swimming & Diving
PITTSBURGH — The University of Pittsburgh swimming and diving programs head out on the road for the first time this season for the two-day FIU TYR Fall Classic in Miami, Fla. Only a select number of athletes will represent the Panthers as teams are limited to only 11 men and 11 women (nine swimmers and two divers) for this event.
"The meet at FIU is a very unique format," head coach John Hargis said. "We are only allowed to take 11 athletes on either side, so it creates an event strategy that is unlike any other meet we do throughout the year. You can only race three times a day and no more than two individuals and the kids love the opportunity to compete outdoors against some great competition. We've done this meet now a couple of times and I am looking forward to seeing what we can do."
Friday's action will begin at 5 p.m. with the 400 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle, 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 50 Free, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke, 200 Free Relay and will conclude with women's 1M / men's 3M diving.
The meet will finish on Saturday as events begin at 10 a.m. Saturday's events will be the 200 Medley Relay, 500 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Fly, 200 IM, 400 Free Relay, and women's 3M / men's 1M diving.
