Pitt Falls 2-1 to No. 19 Virginia Tech in ACC Home-Opener

PITTSBURGH — Pitt women's soccer's (8-4-0, 1-3-0) dropped its ACC home-opener 2-1 to No. 19 Virginia Tech (8-2-2, 2-0-2) Saturday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field. The Hokies broke the 1-1 tie with the game-winner in the 83rd minute.
Ashton Gordon had evened up the game in the 64th minute, converting a penalty kick for her first collegiate goal. Athalie Palomo drew the opportunity when she's was tripped in the left side of the box after slipping by a couple of defenders.
Virginia Tech took its first lead with a goal in the 15th minute.
Pitt returns to action next Thursday at 7 p.m. at home against No. 5 North Carolina.

Pitt returns to action next Thursday at 7 p.m. at home against No. 5 North Carolina.

- The shots were even at 14 apiece, and the Hokies had the slight advantage in shots on goal (7-5) and corner kicks (7-5).
