
No. 2 Pitt Volleyball Earns Third Consecutive Sweep

PITTSBURGH – The No. 2 Pitt volleyball team (14-0, 4-0 ACC) earned its third consecutive sweep by defeating Duke (10-4, 1-2 ACC) at Fitzgerald Field House Friday night.
Pitt earned the sweep by scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-20. The Panthers have won 27 of their last 29 sets. The win marked head coach Dan Fisher's 100th at Fitzgerald Field House of his nine-year career at Pitt. The Panthers are 100-17 (.855) when playing at the Field House under Fisher.
Pitt had the advantage in hitting percentage (.354-.202), kills (49-30), assists (47-28), service aces (7-4), and digs (41-25). Duke had more blocks (10.0-5.0).
Outside hitter Kayla Lund had a match-best 14 kills on .440 hitting, with just three errors on 25 swings. Right side Chinaza Ndee contributed 10 kills on .450 hitting.
Setters Kylee Levers and Lexis Akeo had 24 and 22 assists, respectively. Libero Ashley Browske picked up nine digs for Pitt and had a career-best three service aces.
SET ONE: No. 2 Pitt 25, Duke 20
Lund had a productive first set with eight kills on 10 attempts with just one error for a .700 hitting percentage. As a team, Pitt hit .455 with 19 kills while holding Duke to .222 with just nine kills. There were four ties and two lead changes in the stanza.
SET TWO: No. 2 Pitt 25, Duke 19
The Blue Devils used an 8-1 run to pull ahead by five points (11-6). Pitt answered with an 8-2 run of their own to take back the lead, and didn't surrender it for the remainder of the frame. The Panthers hit .290 for the set and held Duke to .148 success. Lund had 12 kills through two sets to lead Pitt.
SET THREE: No. 2 Pitt 25, Duke 20
Following a 1-1 tie to begin the set, Pitt took the lead and kept it for the remainder of the match. A 4-0 run pushed Pitt's lead to 12-5. Later on, a 4-1 Duke run cut the margin to three points (16-13). Lund ended the match with her match-best 14th kill.
