
No. 2 Pitt Volleyball Sweeps Again, Defeating Clemson

PITTSBURGH – The No. 2 Pitt volleyball team (15-0, 5-0 ACC) picked up its fourth consecutive sweep, downing Clemson (10-6, 2-3 ACC) in straight sets Friday evening at Fitzgerald Field House.
The Panthers earned the win by scores of 25-21, 25-18, 25-17. Pitt has won 30 of its last 32 sets. With the victory, the Panthers extended their best start to a season since 2018, when they earned their best start ever at 23-0.
Pitt had the advantage across the board, in hitting percentage (.351-.189), kills (44-37), assists (43-32), service aces (6-1), digs (34-31) and blocks (5.0-3.0).
Captains Kayla Lund and Chinaza Ndee had 11 kills apiece to lead the Panthers. Outside hitter Leketor Member-Meneh followed with nine and added a match-high 11 digs.
Setters Kylee Levers and Lexis Akeo had 24 and 16 assists, respectively.
SET ONE: No. 2 Pitt 25, Clemson 21
It was a slow start for Pitt, who took its first lead (7-6) after a 4-0 run. Clemson took an 18-16 lead after a 7-2 surge. The Panthers were able to tie the frame at 20 after some hot hitting by Lund. Pitt surrendered just one more point, ending the set with five unanswered points including an ace by Valeria Vazquez Gomez to win it. Clemson hit .448 to start the match while Pitt started at a .375 clip.
SET TWO: No. 2 Pitt 25, Clemson 18
The Panthers trailed 13-8 in the middle of the second set and subsequently called timeout. After that timeout, Pitt answered with a 17-5 run to win the frame and go up 2-0 in the match. Lund had 10 kills on .467 hitting through two sets.
SET THREE: No. 2 Pitt 25, Clemson 17
After seven ties and two lead changes, a 3-0 run gave Pitt a 15-11 lead that they would not surrender for the remainder of the game. A 7-3 run brought up match point for Pitt, and Akeo brought it home with an ace.
